A while ago, I had this idea that it would be really interesting to create the nonprofit field’s genealogy tree (basically putting scholars’ parents (i.e. one’s mentors/advisors/chairs) and children (i.e. students one supervised) together in a genealogy tree).
When I started researching the idea, I found a website that already does this for a variety of disciplines (Academic Family Tree) so I contacted them to see if they would add a “nonprofit studies” tree to their page (along with the more traditional field-specific trees they already had). They said yes!
Now, the issue is that these trees are user-generated. All of us have to go in the tree and populate it with our information (as well as information and our mentors and our students). This is where I need your help! Our tree is located here: https://academictree.org/nonprofit/index.php. It would be amazing if you could all take a few minutes and go fill out information about yourself, your "parents" (i.e., mentors), and your "children" (i.e., students you supervised).
For many of you, your mentors might already exist in the Academic Tree system (for example, my mentors already all existed in the PoliSci tree). What is really cool is that our tree then gets "connected" to these trees from other fields through the common nodes, and we can see our roots in other disciplines.
